What is FreeWheel DSP Solutions?

This user guide is the primary resource for FreeWheel’s Advertiser Suite customers seeking to understand and effectively use Freewheel's DSP solutions. Freewheel DSP solutions are designed to help advertisers succeed in the programmatic, data-driven TV advertising landscape. This guide covers key workflows, platform concepts, and detailed module functionality to support users in planning, activating, and optimizing their media buying strategies. It also includes product release notes and an API change log to keep users informed of the latest updates and enhancements.


FreeWheel DSP

The FreeWheel DSP is a leading demand-side platform designed for streamlined programmatic activation. It features a unified user interface and integrated workflows, provides exclusive access to valuable data, and offers premium, curated omnichannel inventory—all optimized for efficiency and performance.

Buyer Cloud

Take control and build your own buying platform with FreeWheel Buyer Cloud. This suite of extensible APIs puts you in full control of CTV media activation and seamlessly integrates with existing agency systems. It provides a scalable, flexible foundation so you can tailor buying strategies and create bespoke CTV advertising solutions that drive results and strengthen your value as a strategic partner. FreeWheel DSP Modules

Trafficking

Trafficking is a fundamental process of managing and optimizing Campaigns across various platforms and channels. Trafficking encompasses tasks such as creating a campaign, targeting specific audience segments, and selecting ad creatives. Additionally, there are different data offerings that help traffic campaigns by leveraging advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to optimize ad delivery and maximize campaign ROI.

Core Objects

The Core Objects menu contains the four necessary components needed to efficiently operate an ad campaign. Unlike Tools, Core Objects are mandatory to create and have hierarchal value. For example, an advertiser must first be created, followed by a campaign to associate the advertiser to. Once those objects are both created, line items and creatives may be associated to that campaign. 

Tools

The Tools in the Trafficking module allow the creation and management of optional objects that help streamline the campaign trafficking process.


Analytics

The Analytics module contains various available reports under Reporting. In addition to pre-built dashboards for Monitoring, Metamarkets, and Performance, users can also create custom dashboards to suit specific needs. To have a custom dashboard created, please reach out to your account representative.

Reporting

The Reporting menu contains several built-in reports which are customizable to user needs. Within a report, the Report Builder can be used to customize reports, visualize data, and export results.

Dashboards

The Report Builder enables users to create custom dashboards. This feature provides a visualization tool to monitor the performance and delivery of campaigns from a single central location. Custom permissioning allows these dashboards to be shared directly with read-only users with specific roles, such as clients or partners. Additionally, standard dashboards offer a summary of account activity.


Admin

The Admin module allows the creation and management of accounts, account groups, users, roles, and alert settings. Within this module, users can create new accounts for each customer and add new users. User permissions are applied to roles that govern user actions, and account groups that control what accounts a user is able to access. Alert Settings inform users about a variety of account activities through different communication methods.
