Overview
`wseat`, `wadomain`, and `pmp.private_auction` are optional OpenRTB bid request attributes that afford inventory sellers the ability to selectively offer their supply to specific buyers. See below for an explanation for each type:
wseat: List of allowed buyer seat IDs; only these can bid.
wadomain: List of approved advertiser domains; only these can serve ads.
pmp.private_auction: Indicates if the auction is private (1) or open (0); private auctions restrict bidding to invited buyers.
How it Works
For non-private deals where pmp.private_auction = 0, both wseat and wadomain are enforced. If a bid is submitted without a matching wseat and/or wadomain as specified in the bid request, the bid will be rejected.
In open marketplace transactions, wseat is only supported by certain exchanges. When a deal and an open market auction share the same bid request but have different wseat values, the platform will honor the wseat specified for each portion accordingly. For details on wseat support by exchange in open marketplace scenarios, contact FreeWheel support. When partnering with an inventory seller that requires wseat for exclusive access, support should be contacted to confirm that the buyer’s account is configured with the correct SSP-specific seat ID.
Example:
A buyer secures a deal with a publisher that sells programmatic inventory but restricts access to a select group of DSPs. To enforce this restriction, the publisher includes the buyer’s SSP seat ID in the wseat attribute of the RTB request. This limits bidding eligibility to only approved buyers and excludes all others.
