Enhanced Billing Logic for 3rd Party Data Segments
What is it? The pricing rules for using 3rd party segments have been updated to match industry standards. The following billing logic is in place for all 3rd party audience data partners and all contextual or verification targeting partners:
- Where multiple segments are used (Boolean AND):
- Within a given data partner, if more than one segment is required, the highest CPM of all matching segments within that provider is charged
- Across multiple data partners, if more than one segment is required, the highest CPM of all matching segments within each provider is charged
- Where only one of multiple segments is required (Boolean OR):
- Regardless of the number of data partners, the lowest CPM of all matching segments is charged
- Where a segment is excluded (Boolean NOT):
- Segments are charged according to the above rules.
- When multiple segments are required to be excluded (Boolean AND NOT), within a single data partner, the highest CPM of all segments within that provider is charged. When multiple segments across data partners are required to be excluded, the highest CPM of all segments within each provider is charged.
- Where only one of multiple segments is excluded (Boolean OR NOT), regardless of the number of data partners, the lowest CPM of all matching segments is charged.
For excluded segments, exclusion-segment fees are applied each time an impression delivers (meaning the user was not in the segment).
Where is it? 3rd party segments can be targeted by navigating to a Line Item > Targeting > Segments.
Do I need to do anything? This feature is automatically available for all accounts; no action is required.
