Overview

FreeWheel is committed to delivering innovative products and features that solve your business needs. To support you as we bring new products, feature improvements, and capabilities to market, we are pleased to share a few release resource improvements. As of June 30, 2020, FreeWheel will formally support a midpoint release and provide a dedicated release guide.

What is a midpoint release?

Every 8 weeks, FreeWheel releases new features and improvements to production. The midpoint release occurs between each of the MRM major releases. Features typically fall into one of the categories below:

New products, capabilities, and/or features that are not yet in use by any clients and require enablement.

Please note that FreeWheel may need to release features that fall outside of the categories listed above. This may include:

  • New capabilities and improvements to immediately support client business needs.
  • Product updates that were previously communicated but postponed to a future release.

Understanding FreeWheel Releases

Consolidated the Release Brief and Guide

  • To streamline resources and communications, the release brief and release guide will be consolidated in to a single major release guide.

New Publishing Date

  • Previously, the release brief was published 4 weeks before the major release.
  • Now, the release guide will be published 5 weeks before a major release.
    • As a reminder, we will publish a Hub announcement and a Support Portal notification 1 week before each major release.

Additional Features

  • Once features are confirmed by our Product teams, they will be added to the release guide.
    • As of the 6.36 release, we have added a Release Guide Updates section to surface edits to the release guide.
