# Overview

Activating a deal in Curation Hub changes its status from Inactive to Active, enabling it to send bid requests and participate in programmatic delivery. Once activated, a deal can transact against its assigned inventory during its configured flight dates.

---

# Before Beginning

Be sure all deal configuration and setup tasks are complete. The following fields are required when activating a deal:

- Name & ID
- External Deal ID
- Buyers
- Volume
- Inventory Assignment
- Ad Unit

For detailed information on deal configuration, see [Create a Deal](https://freewheel-knowledge-hub.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CHUG/pages/510885909).

## Traffic the External Deal ID in the DSP

The External Deal ID is the identifier used by the DSP to recognize and target the deal. Trafficking the ID in the DSP enables buyers to receive eligible bid requests and transact against the inventory assigned to the deal.

A deal can be activated in Curation Hub without the External Deal ID configured in the DSP, but buyers will not be able to bid on it.
