# Overview

Deals are the primary activation mechanism in Curation Hub, connecting inventory to DSPs for programmatic buying. A deal defines key settings such as the External Deal ID, buyer seat, pricing, priority, inventory assignment, ad units, schedules, and targeting rules.

Within the Curation Hub workflow:

- **Listings** represent inventory offered by publishers.
- **Purchased orders** represent an agency’s access to that inventory.
- **Deals** package inventory for activation and provide the External Deal ID used for bidding in DSPs.

Once activated, a deal begins generating bid requests and can be monitored through Curation Hub reporting for performance, pacing, reconciliation, and optimization. Refer to the following sections for more information.

# Deals Grid Reference

Once created, a deal appears in the **Deals** table in the **Basic** tab and allows additional configuration. Additional settings are available on the **Targeting**, **Restrictions**, and **Advanced** tabs. Refer to the sections below for details on each tab.

## Basic Tab

| **Column** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **Alert** | Indicates that the deal has an issue requiring attention. When a problem exists, an alert icon appears in the deal’s row so users can quickly identify deals that may need review before or during delivery. |
| **Status** | Shows the deal’s current lifecycle state, such as Active, Inactive, Archive, or Pause. This helps users understand whether the deal is available to transact, temporarily stopped, or no longer in active use. |
| **Name & ID** | (Required) Displays the deal name together with its system-generated identifier. The deal appears in the Deals table after creation, and the ID is automatically generated when the deal is added. In related Programmatic documentation, selecting the Name & ID can also take users to performance reporting for that deal. |
| **Deal Type** | Defines the type of programmatic transaction being set up, such as First Look, Programmatic Guaranteed, Biddable Guaranteed, Deal, or Backfill Deal. The selected deal type controls how the deal behaves and also determines its priority treatment in ad decisioning. |
| **Deal Priority Bucket** | Identifies the priority bucket in which the deal competes during ad decisioning. For example, First Look competes in Hard Guaranteed with Passback, Programmatic Guaranteed and Biddable Guaranteed compete in Guaranteed, standard Deal competes in Open Competition, and Backfill Deal competes in Backfill. |
| **Override** | Lets users further prioritize a deal within its priority bucket. Override behavior depends on deal type. For example, guaranteed-priority deals can use Above Paying Ads values to rank above other guaranteed deals, while First Look deals can be prioritized within the Hard Guaranteed with Passback bucket using override values. |
| **External Deal ID** | (Required) The public-facing identifier used for the deal outside the internal system. This ID is useful for partner-facing workflows, troubleshooting, and search. |
| **Buyers** | (Required) Identifies the buyer, also called the Demand Side Partner (DSP), that is included in the deal. Buyers must be active before they can be assigned. Depending on DSP support, the deal can also be opened to linked buyers or sub-seats under the selected buyer. |
| **Volume** | (Required) Controls the amount of inventory or request volume the deal is allowed to use, depending on configuration and deal type. For non-PG deals, volume settings can include no-limit behavior as well as caps or pacing-related controls. |
| **Inventory Assignment** | (Required) Specifies the inventory the deal can target or exclude. This is the core supply-assignment control for the deal and should be configured so it aligns with other targeting settings to avoid conflicts. |
| **Marketplace Supply Source** | Lets sellers include or exclude Marketplace inventory for an individual programmatic deal and, in some cases, include or exclude inventory from specific sellers. This is especially relevant when Marketplace workflows are enabled. |
| **Pricing** | Contains the deal’s pricing controls, including how floor prices apply to the deal. The floor price policy determines which floor price value is used when the deal executes. |
| **Ad Unit** | (Required) Defines the ad units eligible for the deal. Depending on configuration, this can include specialized ad units such as Pause ads. |
| **Salesperson** | Stores the salesperson associated with the deal for workflow visibility, filtering, and operational context. |
| **Primary Trafficker** | Stores the main trafficker responsible for the deal, making operational ownership easier to identify. |
| **Schedule** | Defines when the deal is eligible to run. For Programmatic deals, both a scheduled start date and end date are required. |
| **Frequency Caps** | Limits how often a user can be served ads from the deal. If a frequency cap is reached, the deal can stop serving. |
| **Max Ad Duration** | Sets the maximum allowed creative duration, in seconds, for supported deal types. This setting is not compatible with Programmatic Guaranteed deals, and for non-PG deals the UI can show No Limit when no maximum is set. |

## Targeting Tab

| **Column** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **Name & ID** | Displays the deal name together with its system-generated identifier. |
| **External Deal ID** | The public-facing identifier used for the deal outside the internal system. This ID is useful for partner-facing workflows, troubleshooting, and search. |
| **Buyers** | Identifies the buyer, also called the Demand Side Partner (DSP), that is included in the deal. Buyers must be active before they can be assigned. Depending on DSP support, the deal can also be opened to linked buyers or sub-seats under the selected buyer. |
| **Geography Targeting** | Restricts deal delivery to users in selected geographic locations, such as countries, regions, states, cities, or postal codes, depending on available targeting options. |
| **Daypart Targeting** | Restricts deal delivery to specific times of day or days of the week so the deal serves only during the selected schedule. |
| **Platform Targeting** | Restricts deal delivery to selected device and technology environments, such as device type, operating system, browser, platform package, privacy setting, or addressability capability. |
| **ISP Targeting** | Restricts deal delivery to users on selected internet service providers (ISPs). |
| **Custom Targeting** | Restricts deal delivery based on custom key-values passed in the ad request. |
| **Audience Targeting** | Restricts deal delivery to selected audiences available in Audience Manager. |

## Restrictions Tab

| **Column** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **Name & ID** | Displays the deal name together with its system-generated identifier. |

| **Buyers** | Identifies the buyer, also called the Demand Side Partner (DSP), that is included in the deal. Buyers must be active before they can be assigned. Depending on DSP support, the deal can also be opened to linked buyers or sub-seats under the selected buyer. |
| **Blocked Advertiser Industry Categories** | Specifies which advertiser industry categories are not allowed to serve through the deal. Use this setting to prevent demand from restricted or undesired industry verticals from buying against the inventory assigned to the deal. |
| **Brand Banning** | Prevents ads from specific advertiser brands from serving through the deal. Use this restriction when certain brands should be excluded, even if their parent advertiser or industry is otherwise allowed. |
| **Advertiser Banning** | Prevents ads from specific advertisers from serving through the deal. Use this restriction to block demand from named advertisers at the advertiser level across the deal. |
| **Seat(s) Banning** | Prevents demand from specific buyer seats from serving through the deal. Use this restriction when inventory should not be accessible to particular DSP seats or buying entities, even if other deal settings would otherwise allow delivery. |

## Advanced Tab

| **Column** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **Name & ID** | Displays the deal name together with its system-generated identifier. The deal appears in the Deals table after creation, and the ID is automatically generated when the deal is added. In related Programmatic documentation, selecting the Name & ID can also take users to performance reporting for that deal. |
