All of the below geo data is provided by MaxMind, with the exception ZIP+4 and international postal codes, which are provided for customers who opt-in for Digital Element targeting. For more information on this granular targeting, see ZIP+4 and Full International Postal Code Targeting below. Targeting Keys Targeting Key Description Recommendation Country Country of the user. Latitude & Longitude List List of Latitude & Longitude coordinates. For more information, see  here .  Use as INCLUDE or EXCLUDE targeting Latitude & Longitude Present Presence of latitude and longitude values. Use as INCLUDE or EXCLUDE targeting Location Type Location type, e.g., GPS Location Services, IP Address, or user-provided data. Use as INCLUDE or EXCLUDE targeting ZIP Code ZIP code or postal code of the user. ZIP codes can be entered directly in the “ZIP Code” field as a comma-separated list. Standard ZIP targeting accommodates 5-digit US ZIP codes and partial international ZIP codes. Contact support for the matching value formats for partial international ZIP codes. Use as INCLUDE or EXCLUDE targeting ZIP Code List If uploading a ZIP code list that contains five-digit codes starting with the number "0", please upload in one of the following two ways: The file could be a .txt file with one ZIP code per row and no headers. The file could be a .csv file with the proper ZIP code format recommended by Microsoft. The 'special format' must be actively selected in Excel to save this as a .csv for upload. For any set of ZIP codes greater than 100, it is recommended to create a “ZIP Code List”.  To create a list : Click on the +New button and select “List” from the drop-down Select “ZIP Code List” from the List Type drop-down Give the list a name and click “Save & Continue” Add ZIP codes in the “Add List Item” field (one per row) OR upload a .txt file of ZIPs (also one per row) OR upload a .csv file of ZIPs (also one per row) ZIP+4 and Full International Postal Code Targeting  Geo data from Digital Element (Digital Envoy) enables granular targeting for ZIP+4 codes in the US, and full international postal codes. To provide ZIP+4 code and full international postal codes for targeting, Buyer Cloud augments the bid request with data from Digital Envoy.​ Maxmind is still the provider for all other geo dimensions. In rare cases, MaxMind and DigitalEnvoy may resolve the same IP to different locations. Clients with custom Buyer Cloud configurations must contact support to enable ZIP+4 and full international postal code targeting. Customers with standard setups do not need to do anything to enable this feature. ZIP+4 Targeting (US Only) To target a ZIP+4 code, enter it as a 9-digit number with a hyphen, in the format NNNNN-NNNN. If you are targeting over 100 ZIP codes on a line item or using the same set of ZIP codes with multiple line items, using a ZIP Code List will streamline the process. For more information on creating a list, see  Lists . When ZIP+4 codes are enabled, you can still target 5-digit ZIP codes as normal, as there is a parent-child relationship between 5-digit and 9-digit zip codes. Full International Postal Codes Digital Envoy provides full international post codes for geo targeting. Note that Buyer Cloud does not recognize any parent-child relationships between postal codes in non-US regions and their subregions. To target a partial international postal code, apply exact match targeting and target each individual postal code within the partial postal code. The following countries' postal codes are only partially supported by Digital Envoy: Ireland: Only the first three digits are used, to avoid zip codes resolving to specific addresses. Iran: Only the first two digits are provided. Kazakhstan: Only the first three characters are provided. Six-character zip codes are being phased out by Digital Envoy. Palestine: Only the first four characters are provided. Five-character values are being phased out by Digital Envoy. A: If there is no IP address in a bid request, Buyer Cloud relies on the geo information sent from the SSP or publisher in the bid request Q : Do you augment latitude and longitude data? A : No, we never generate lat/long information using lookups nor augment a bid request's lat/long with a vendor's third-party data. Q : Why am I delivering in subregions of the region I am excluding? A : The database for some countries has a two-level hierarchy for regions. We flatten the hierarchy when we import it and don’t support parent to child relationships. For example, if you exclude the New York City region, but the bid request matches Manhattan, you may still serve on that bid request. This behavior is more prevalent in Europe. International Geo Targeting Q : How does Geo Targeting work for International postal codes? A : Maxmind support for postal code targeting in the platform is determined by what is passed from Maxmind. This differs by country, and for some only part of the postal code is supported by Maxmind. For example in the USA 5 digits are supported, CA first 3 digits are supported, UK first 3-4 digits supported, Ireland first 3 digits, Italy 5 digits. For the countries where only the first section of the postal code is passed, e.g. CA and UK, the customer needs to match this format when adding into targeting. If the customer inputs the full postal code, there will be no “matching” and the Line Item is not expected to bid. For customers using Digital Envoy, full international postal codes are provided. See the above section for the list of provided international postal codes and their format requirements. Q : Because you truncate the last octet of an IP address in EMEA, do you lookup the geo in EMEA before truncating? A : Yes, we look up the geo data prior to truncating the IP address.
